Date: Saturday, September 21st, 2024 Time: 5:00 - 9:00 PM Location: Solid State, 10326 Whalley Blvd Join us at the Sher Vancouver Dosti Project monthly meetup for an inspiring Tactile Art workshop led by the incredibly talented Jag Nagra! Immerse yourself in creativity using various arts and crafts materials. This workshop is designed to awaken your senses and spark creativity while we create unforgettable memories together. The evening will also feature delicious food, soft drinks, music, and dancing—making it an event you won’t want to miss! All materials will be provided. Jag Nagra, a queer Punjabi visual artist, is renowned for her dedication to community development and her fearless efforts to dismantle LGBTQ+ stigma within the South Asian community. Her art boldly celebrates darker skin tones and traditional South Asian attire, embodying confidence and cultural pride. Jag’s impactful work has been recognized by the Museum of Vancouver, which has acquired her art for their permanent collection. Recently, she also developed permanent street signs for Komagata Maru Place to commemorate the 1914 tragedy. As the co-founder of Vancouver’s Punjabi Market Collective, Jag works tirelessly to revitalize this historic district. Her collaborations with organizations like the Vancouver Canucks, including art for their inaugural Vaisakhi celebration and the first-ever Diwali jerseys, have garnered international acclaim.
